RV Sales provides tips on engine and drive train
maintenance to help ensure that your motor home parts are in
proper working order on your recreational vehicle.
If you own a new or used motor home or recreational vehicle, you
understand how important it is to maintain the
engine and drive train components of your unit. Here are some simple
tips that can aid in maintenance for your recreational vehicle.
-
Keep the fluid levels topped up. This includes engine oil, coolants
and antifreeze, washer fluid, brake fluid,
and transmission oil. It is a good idea to check fluid levels prior
to any excursions or trips that you may be going on
-
Perform regular oil changes on your recreational vehicle (refer to
your manual)
Otherwise it is a good bet to have the oil changed every 5000-6000
kms (3100 - 3700 miles)
-
Depending on the age of your RV you may want to consider a regular
tune up at least once a season
-
Keep necessary parts greased and lubricated to prevent rust,
deterioration or malfunction
-
If your RV is parked over winter or for an extended period, start
the engine to allow the fluids to flow
-
Disconnect the battery when your RV will not be in use for a long
period of time. For more on battery maintenance click here
-
Change and flush your brake fluid periodically.
