One of the most important and often overlooked features of an RV is the
roof.
Treat the roof of your RV as you would the roof of your home. For many
people in recent years, motor homes and
RVs have become their homes.
If you think about the purpose of a roof, it's
basic function is to provide shelter.
Whether it is the roof of a tent trailer, travel trailer, motor home or
other type of recreational vehicle care for your roof is important.
Here are some things to consider about roof care:
-
Conduct regular inspections of your roof
-
Keep the roof clean. Clean your roof four or five times throughout
the year depending on how often you use it
and where it is parked
-
Depending on the type of roof that you have (metal, rubber, vinyl)
you will need to use different products for cleaning
-
For most roofs, you can use soap and water to clean off dust and
debris
-
Regular cleaning of your roof can prevent stains or black streaks
from occurring
-
Use a mild laundry detergent for cleaning the roof of your RV.
(Before going on to something stronger check with the manufacturer
or dealer to see what they recommend specifically.)
-
When cleaning the roof be sure to inspect any seams around vents or
sky lights
-
Check for leaks by inspecting any areas where caulking has been
applied
-
